Price comparison
Prices for the Australian Shepherd design (DOG-92) and the photo-check alternative, from each merchant’s product page on October 27, 2026. Shipping and optional fraud protection cost extra.
| Merchant | Design | 1 box singles | 1 box duplicates | 4 boxes singles | Checks per box | Per check (1 box) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carousel Checks | Australian Shepherd | $25.50 | $28.50 | $92.50 | 100 | 25.5¢ |
| Checks Unlimited | Single Photo Checks (your photo) | $28.49 | $34.49 | $87.69 | 80 | 35.6¢ |
Cheapest option
Carousel Checks is the cheapest, and it’s the only merchant we compare that sells these designs. One box of 100 singles costs $25.50, two boxes cost $46.00 and four boxes cost $92.50, about 23¢ a check. Duplicates cost $28.50 for one box. Singles come as four pads of 25 with deposit tickets and a register.
The Checks Unlimited photo option looks cheap at $87.69 for four boxes, but those boxes hold 320 checks rather than 400, so it still costs more per check. See our cheapest checks guide for plain designs and current deals.
Matching the design to your Aussie’s coat
Australian Shepherds come in blue merle, red merle, black tri and red tri, and many have one blue eye and one brown. A stock design will only roughly match your dog. Keith Kimberlin’s pups include blue- and brown-eyed puppies, which comes closest to the look owners love. If your dog’s coat or eyes are what make them yours, the photo-check route is worth the extra 10¢ a check. For related herding breeds, see border collie checks and German shepherd checks.
The two Aussie designs cost the same, so the choice is only about looks. Choose the grown-dog photo (DOG-92) if your Aussie is an adult working or sport dog, and Keith Kimberlin’s pups (KKM-17) if you just brought a puppy home. Buying checks as a gift for another Aussie owner is awkward, because the order needs their routing and account numbers. Send them this page instead, or buy a matching gift from the same series.
How to order
- Choose a design above and select singles or duplicates.
- Enter your name and address exactly as you want them printed. Many people leave out the street address for privacy.
- Copy your routing number, account number and next check number from the bottom of a current check. If you don’t have one, ask your bank, since a wrong digit means the checks won’t clear.
- Choose a starting check number higher than your last check so the numbers never repeat.
- Pick a delivery speed. Carousel’s options run from Next Day Air (1–2 business days) to Bulk mail (9–18 business days), and EZShield fraud coverage up to $25,000 is optional.
Your bank doesn’t have to approve the design. Banks process checks from Carousel, Bank Checks Plus and Checks Unlimited the same way they process the checks they sell themselves. For more detail, see how to reorder checks.
Use your own photo instead
If no stock design is quite right, Checks Unlimited’s Single Photo Checks print an image you upload across the check: $28.49 for a box of 80 singles or $34.49 for duplicates, falling to $87.69 for four boxes of singles. Standard delivery can take up to 15 business days, and trackable shipping takes 7–11. Use a sharp, well-lit photo with a plain area where the payee and amount lines go. See more ideas on our photo checks page.
