Short answer: sign in at chase.com, choose your checking account and order checks there. Chase shows the price and any discount before you submit, and any Chase branch can also take the order. Or order Chase-compatible checks from a check printer such as Checks Unlimited or Carousel. They work the same and often cost less.

How to order checks from Chase

Chase keeps check ordering behind your login, so the design choices and the price you see depend on your account.

  1. Sign in at chase.com. Chase’s check page says to sign in to choose your check design.
  2. Pick the checking account and open its account services menu. Look for the option to order checks and deposit slips.
  3. Choose a design and quantity. You can change the address printed on the checks while you order. To change your mailing address on file, Chase points you to chase.com/Update.
  4. Review the cost and any discount Chase shows, then submit.

Branch: any Chase branch can order personal checks. Business accounts: order through Chase’s business check-order page or at a branch.

No checks on Chase Secure Banking. Chase lists paper checks as “not available” on Chase Secure Banking, so neither Chase nor a printer can supply checks for that account.

Cheaper option: order Chase-compatible checks online

Your checks don’t have to come from Chase. What makes a check work is the routing, account and check numbers printed in magnetic ink along the bottom, so any U.S. check printer can print them. Checks Unlimited verifies every order against your bank’s records.

Chase doesn’t publish its check prices, so compare: start a Chase order to see your price, then compare it with the prices below. If Chase offers you free or discounted checks, take them. If not, a printer is usually cheaper and has far more designs.

What you need

  • Your Chase routing number (bottom left of a Chase check)
  • Your checking account number
  • A starting check number higher than your last check
  • Your name and address exactly as Chase has them on file
  • A current check to copy from (not a deposit slip)

Steps

  1. Pick a design and quantity (singles are cheapest; duplicates make a carbon copy).
  2. Enter your bank details, starting number, name and address.
  3. Preview carefully: printers print exactly what you type.
  4. Choose shipping (trackable is safer) and pay.

Security features

Chase warns that “checks are an easy target for fraud”: scammers steal and alter checks or send fake ones. Bank and printer checks meet the same banking standards; what differs is the security features and the delivery.

Checks Unlimited lists a MicroPrint signature line (it turns dotted when copied), chemical and erasure protection, and a security screen on the back. Its optional SentryShield protection is added at extra cost and can be removed. Choose trackable delivery and store unused checks securely.

Delivery time

Chase doesn’t list a delivery time on its public check page. You choose shipping during the order, and the options appear there.

Checks Unlimited: printing usually takes 2–5 business days; standard delivery up to 15 business days, trackable 7–11; In-Plant Rush costs $6.99. If you’re nearly out, pay for rush or use the bank’s fastest option.

Where is my Chase routing number?

The 9-digit number at the bottom left of your checks; Chase also shows it in the app. It varies by region, so use your own.

I had a First Republic account. Which checks do I order?
