The Role of Bank Checks in Personal Finances and Banking

Bank and credit union checks is an important necessity, even with the electronic age that we live in. With services like electronic bill pay, we can pay many bills online. Bank checks are still a necessity though. Some companies do not offer electronic bill pay and many people feel safer paying by check. When a utility company’s website is down for maintenance or you, yourself do not have access to the internet, bank checks are the way to go. Another advantage to bank checks is you can write a check to a friend or family member and they can take it to either your bank to cash, or his or her own bank to cash or deposit. Try that with a debit or credit card. The fact is, bank checks will never go a way. Electronics fail, credit card machines fail, ATM machines run out of cash – but bank checks will always work. Since we need checks, why not make them stylish and personal? Don’t settle for expensive and boring checks from your bank. Instead choose a personal check design that is stylish and inexpensive.

Are you concerned with ordering bank checks from somewhere else, besides your bank? There is no need to be concerned. Did you know the bank does not print and produce the bank checks that they sell you? Banks take the orders and pass those orders to check printers. The check printers then send them to the customers. Get Bank Checks and all of the other companies that print checks must adhere to precise specifications. Regardless of where you purchase personal check designs, banks cannot refuse to process them. Rest assure that our check designs meet and/or exceed all of the requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Ordering Bank Checks

When you order bank checks, some information is required and some is optional.

Required:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Bank Name
  • Account Number
  • Routing Number

Optional:

  • For an address you can use either a physical address or a Post Office Box (P.O. Box) – Some businesses will not accept personal checks with a P.O. Box, so you will have to write your physical address on the check when those times arise.
  • Drivers License – Adding your drivers license number is optional (Not recommended)
  • Phone Number – Adding your phone number is optional. Many businesses will ask for your phone number if it isn’t written or printed on the check.

Tip: It is recommended that you keep personal information limited. You can always add the required information that is needed (Drivers License/Phone Number)

Finding the Routing and Account Numbers

Do not confuse the check number as being apart of the account number
