What personal laser checks are

A personal laser check is a wallet-size check printed in a strip of three on a letter-size sheet, with perforations between them. Your name, address, bank details, MICR line and check numbers come pre-printed. Your software prints the date, payee, amount and memo, and keeps the register for you. Checks Unlimited files them under Computer Checks Laser/Inkjet, so laser and inkjet printers both work.

They suit people who pay bills from personal finance software and still mail some checks. If your program prints business-size checks instead, see our computer checks guide.

Personal Lasers from Checks Unlimited

The Personal Lasers page on the Checks Unlimited business site lists them as compatible with Microsoft Money, QuickBooks, Simply Media/Simply Money, MECA for DOS versions 10 to 12 and MECA for Windows. The product image shows three checks per sheet, each with a record stub at the left. The Microsoft Money formats page lists Personal Lasers next to the business formats.

Eight styles: Classic Blue, Classic Green, Concordia, Executive Gray, Nature’s Majesty, Parchment, Suede and Celtic. Every check has chemical protection, erasure protection and a microprint signature line. They are one-part; Checks Unlimited notes that duplicates exclude computer checks.

Quicken is on the Checks Unlimited software list; for a program that is not listed, it asks you to call 1-800-954-5590 before you order.

Printing tips

  1. In your software, choose the wallet or personal check style with three checks per page.
  2. Print one test page on plain paper, hold it over a check sheet against a window, and adjust the alignment until the payee and amount sit on the lines.
  3. Set printer scaling to 100% or actual size.
  4. Load sheets face and direction as your printer manual shows for letterhead, and print a single check first.
  5. Enter the first check number of the sheet in the software so the register matches the pre-printed numbers.

Our check printing software guide covers programs that print checks.

Envelopes and leftover checks

  • Laser Taxi: $22.87 for a set of 10 reusable carrier sheets. Checks stick to an adhesive strip, so you can drive one or two leftover checks from a 3-per-page sheet through the printer.
  • Personal-size envelopes: our check envelopes guide lists window envelopes for wallet checks.
  • Deposit slip pads: $18.86 for 200; personal deposit slips are in our deposit slips guide.

How to order

  1. Open the Personal Lasers page and choose a style and quantity.
  2. Enter your name and address as they should print, the routing number, account number and starting check number from a current check.
  3. Check every digit against your bank records; the order is verified before printing.
  4. Choose delivery and decide whether to keep SentryShield in the cart.

Every Checks Unlimited business product page lists Standard Delivery at 7 to 14 business days and Secure Trackable Delivery at 3 to 6 business days, counted after processing and printing. The business FAQ says standard printing generally takes 2 to 5 business days, and In-Plant Rush, chosen at checkout, cuts processing to 2 business days. SentryShield fraud protection is added to every check order for an extra charge, and you can remove it in the cart. Our cheapest checks and reorder guides cover regular personal checks.

Value Priced Personal Checks

Personal laser checks: frequently asked questions

What are personal laser checks?

Personal laser checks are wallet-size checks printed three to a letter-size sheet, with your bank details pre-printed. Personal finance software prints the payee, amount and date, and you tear the checks apart along the perforations.

How much do personal laser checks cost?

On October 21, 2026 Checks Unlimited Personal Lasers cost $71.10 for 250, $99.55 for 500 and $156.48 for 1,000. The Quicken store listed its wallet check at $50.95 for 100.

Do personal laser checks work with Quicken?

Yes. The Quicken store sells a Laser Multi-Purpose Wallet Check for Quicken, and Checks Unlimited lists Quicken on its computer check software list.

Can I print personal checks on an inkjet printer?

Yes. Pre-printed laser checks run through laser and inkjet printers, because the MICR line and bank details are already printed. Print a plain-paper test first to align the fields.

Are personal laser checks wallet size?

Yes. Each check on the sheet is personal size, three per sheet. The Quicken and Sage stores call this format a wallet check.

How do I use the last checks on a sheet?

Use a carrier sheet. The Checks Unlimited Laser Taxi, $22.87 for 10 reusable sheets, holds one or two leftover checks on an adhesive strip so they run through the printer.
