What are laser checks?
Laser checks, also called computer checks, come on sheets you feed through your office printer and fill in from your accounting software instead of writing them by hand. Carousel and Bank Checks Plus say their laser checks work with laser and inkjet printers, are compatible with QuickBooks, Quicken and Microsoft Money, and meet or exceed American Bankers Association specifications. If your software isn’t listed, they format the checks for it at no extra charge.
Writing checks by hand instead? See manual checks in our business checks guide.
Printing personal checks at home? Our personal laser checks guide covers sheets of three wallet-size checks for Quicken, QuickBooks and other software.
Top, middle, bottom and 3 per page
The format names where the check sits on the sheet. Match the layout your software prints:
- Top laser checks: the check on top and two perforated stubs below for your records. Carousel suggests the format for accounts payable, payroll or general purpose.
- Middle laser checks: the check in the middle with a stub above and below.
- Bottom laser checks: the check at the bottom with two stubs above.
- 3 per page laser checks: three checks on each sheet, sold in multiples of 300.
Not sure which layout your software prints? Our computer checks format guide matches each program to its check layout, and our guide to checks with stubs explains top and middle voucher checks.
